Surgical Technologist

Overview

Surgical Technologist II supports surgeons and the operating room team by preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile field, and assisting during surgical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the OR to support safe, efficient surgical care
• Maintain strict aseptic technique and follow infection-control standards
• Handle, pass, and manage surgical instruments and equipment during procedures
• Provide assistance as needed, including support for cardiothoracic cases
• Perform care, handling, and basic maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment
• Support procedures in a busy surgical environment while prioritizing patient safety

Qualifications & skills

• Proficiency in surgical sterilization, aseptic technique, and infection prevention
• Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, setup, and intraoperative support
• Ability to work effectively with surgeons and the OR team
• Competence in instrument/equipment care and basic maintenance
• Comfort supporting patients of all ages and adapting to specialized procedures
